I found Futuregirl’s Starling Handbag quite awhile ago and absolutely fell in love with it.
I will most definitely be making more of this bag, but I won’t use cotton next time as the cotton does stretch out of shape quite a bit, as you can see.
I did modify the handle a bit, as I wanted a few more rows of handle than the pattern calls for.
Another modification I made was to make a very long strap. I wanted the strap to give the bag a bit more support along the bottom and sides, so sewed it so that the strap runs along the bottom and up both sides of the bag. If I don’t want to use the strap, I just fold it down inside and along the bottom of the bag for even a bit more support. Here’s a picture of the bag with the strap.

I have gotten a LOT of compliments on this bag. Not only from co-workers, but when I’m out shopping. I have had store teller’s ask me if I had made the bag and that this particular stitch pattern was perfect for this bag.
